- Peacefully in Dunedin Hospital with family by his side on October 13, 2026; aged 75 years. Loved son of the late Paul and Johanna, loved Dad of Darren and Laura, Michelle and Steve, granddad of Evana, Remus, Gabe, Jose, and Liam, and great granddad of Isabel, much loved brother of Marty and Janine, uncle of Jeremy, and Kain, great uncle of Maddox (Max), Kaiza, and Wilhelmina. A special thanks to all the carers and staff of Ross Home that looked after Hans.
- A Service for Hans will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 10.30am on Friday October 16, followed by private cremation. Messages can be left below.

Rest in peace dear Hans. A much loved family member and our Christmas get together Santa. You brought much joy to the children over the years. We'll miss your cheeky grin and smile.
